Limits on the contribution of early endogenous radiolysis to oxidation in carbonaceous chondrites’ parent bodies

چکیده
Context. Carbonaceous chondrites have undergone alteration in their parent bodies and display oxidized secondary phases, including sulfates CI CM chondrites. The cause of the formation these is yet to be determined. Aims. This study investigates potential endogenous radiolysis water (i.e., caused by radionuclides present rock) on carbonaceous Radiolysis may contributed enhanced degree oxidation chondrites, we also examined CV as a case with no measured sulfates. Methods. We quantified oxidants produced how much sulfur content could form this method. amount was calculated using radiolytic production model developed used for Earth planetary applications that takes into account relevant physical parameters (water-to-rock ratio, grain density) composition (amount radionuclides, content). Results. For bodies, even very favorable set assumptions, only slightly more than 1% available can process, significantly below observed Conclusions. Endogenous unlikely abundance sulfate meteorites. hypothesis large quantities O 2 accreted primitive ice, other hand, quantitatively supported measurements comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

Formation of Sulfates on Parent Bodies of Carbonaceous Chondrites, Ceres,
Introduction: Chemical compounds of S 6+ , sulfates and/or SO3, occur on Earth, Venus, Mars, parent bodies of carbonaceous chondrites, and icy surfaces of Europa and Ganymede. On the terrestrial planets, formation of S 6+ species is related to atmospheric photochemical processes that produce O2 and other O-rich oxidants. Here we explain the formation of sulfates within chondritic bodies through...

Figure 1. Stability fields of sulfate and bisulfide at a total pressure of 100 bar. The thin solid curves represent equal activities of SO4 and HS at various pH. The QFM curve represents equilibrium (2) and HM stands for hematitemagnetite buffer. Sulfate is stable at higher temperature and lower ƒH2. Low-temperature formation of sulfate in asteroidal environments requires complete oxidation of ...

متن کاملcontribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.
this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...
